By Ohio.com staff

Cuyahoga Falls City Council approved a contract with RiverReach Construction to remove the city's two dams and restore its river banks, Falls News Press reports.

Council unanimously agreed to the contract with the Norton-based company. The cost of the project is estimated at $1 million. The city's Finance Department said the entire cost will be reimbursed by a grant from the EPA.

Construction to remove the dam behind Samira's Restaurant and the dam behind Sheraton Suites is scheduled to begin in June and is expected to be complete in July.
