CUYAHOGA FALLS:  City Council will vote March 11 on funding for an ambitious list of road repair projects for 2013.

The list includes resurfacing of 17 streets, reconstruction of Johnson Avenue and resurfacing of Tallmadge Road. Additionally, repairs are scheduled to be completed on eight additional streets.

Service director Valerie Wax Carr said there are five more streets on this year's list than last year.

The Johnson Avenue rebuild will be completed over two or three years. The cost is about $800,000.

The Tallmadge Road repaving at $500,000 is the second most expensive project. Thanks to a grant secured by Falls engineer Tony Demasi, the city will pay just a third of the cost.

Demasi said streets are ranked, with the worst making it to the top of the list for paving. Street emergencies could push some projects to next year. If Council approves the funding, the city will begin the bidding process March 24. Work should begin in late spring.

Council will vote for funding to resurface the following streets: Anderson Road from Myrtle Avenue to Curtis Avenue; 4th Street from Chestnut Boulevard to Broad Boulevard; Bailey Road from Front Street to state Route 8; Searl Street from Tallmadge Road to Broadway East; Herbruck Avenue from Highpoint Road to Parkview Drive; Marc Drive from State Road to 105 Marc Drive; Americana Drive from Chateau Drive North End; Center Avenue from Bailey Road  to Anderson Road; Wichert Drive from Center Avenue to Myrtle Avenue, 11th Street from Jefferson Avenue to Phelps Avenue; Seventh Street from Lincoln Avenue to Silver Lake Avenue; Grant Avenue from State Road to Second Street; Myrtle Avenue from Bailey Road to Anderson Road; 13th Street from Grant Avenue to Highbridge Road; Buckingham Gate Boulevard from Bailey Road to Howe Avenue; Phelps Avenue from 13th Street to 10th Street; and Hudson Drive from Notre Dame Avenue to Graham Road.

Streets that will need grinding only are Garfield Avenue from Ironwood Street to Northland Street and 26th Street to Maitland Avenue North End.

Streets that will need to be chipped and sealed include: School Avenue from Cook Street to Bailey Road; Schubert Street from School Avenue to Munroe Falls Avenue; Center Avenue to Bailey Road West End; 17th Street from Broad Boulevard to Jefferson Avenue; Jefferson Avenue from 14th Street to North Haven Boulevard; and Meadow Lane from Quick Road to Charlene Drive.

Johnson Avenue from Oakwood Drive to Elmwood Street will be rebuilt. Also, the Tallmadge Road repaving project will include Tallmadge Road from Newberry Street to 300 feet south of Clyde Avenue.
