Girls on the Run begins next session March 4

Girls on the Run and Girls on Track is beginning its next session the week of March 4 at locations throughout Northeast Ohio.

The programs are designed to promote self-esteem, self-respect and healthy living through a curriculum that integrates running.

“Girls on the Run is about so much more than just running. This program really feeds and builds a child’s confidence armor,” Monica Peritt, operations director of Girls on the Run of Summit, said in a news release. “The girls learn about standing up for themselves, being empowered and being positive. You see the change in them happen so quickly. It’s amazing.”

Girls on the Run is for girls in third through fifth grade; Girls on Track is for grades six through eight.

The programs are offered through Girls on the Run of Greater Summit at locations in Summit, Lorain, Cuyahoga, Portage and Medina counties. A total of 57 teams are available this spring at locations throughout the region. For information, visit www.gotrgreatersummit.org.
