CUYAHOGA FALLS: Cuyahoga Falls City Council will vote Monday on whether to fund a new supervisory position for the combined street and sanitation division.
Falls Service Director Valerie Wax Carr is asking to create an assistant streets/sanitation superintendent.
The assistant superintendent will absorb the duties of the street foreman, while also having supervisory duties over the sanitation division.
Carr said sanitation and the streets division began merging in 2005.
"These two departments continue to evolve as they have merged operational procedures and cross-trained staff and management," she said.
The new job will be paid at a higher rate. However, while the foreman was eligible for overtime pay, the assistant superintendent is not.
Carr is also hiring an operation supervisor to replace an employee who retired in 2009.
Civil service tests will be given for both jobs, Carr said. The tests have not yet been scheduled.
Monday's meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Natatorium. Meetings are open to the public.
