Mary Ann Krawczonek
Algebra, Grade 9, Woodridge High School
Mary Ann Krawczonek has been teaching at Woodridge High School for 19 years. Her school involvement includes being Assistant Athletic Director for ten years and a part of the NHS selection committee. Mary Ann is also a home instructor, mentor to new teachers, and a homework assistance center supervisor. Mary Ann’s hobbies are spinning at The Edge, participating in the Warrior Dash, gardening, skiing, mountain biking, and spending time with her Newfoundlands Darwin and Mya. Mary Ann’s favorite aspect of being a teacher is that, “every day and every year is different. You never know what might happen. I love that!” Her ambition is to take a summer and travel through Italy by bike and stop at different wineries. The following summer, Mary Ann would like to travel by bike, this time through France, and stop at bakeries along the way. And finally, spend a summer Alaska and work on a fishing boat. Mary Ann expresses, “I switched from an engineering career to secondary education to make a difference in kids’ lives.”
Nominator: “Mrs. K always helps us when we need it. She makes her class the most fun it can be while we still learn. Some kids struggle and she always helps them finish.”
