Training program for Summit County churches

AKRON: A free training program for churches on complying with reporting laws for child abuse and neglect will be held from 9 a.m. to noon April 21 at Summit County Children Services, 264 S. Arlington St.
The event is part of this year’s 25th anniversary Child & Family Awareness Month celebration coordinated by Children Services.
The training for church leaders and lay members will include an overview of child welfare and Children Services; statistical information; definitions of the indicators of child abuse and neglect; a discussion of mandated reporting; and strategies for intervention, strengthening families and preventing child abuse.
Participants will receive a Child Abuse & Neglect Awareness Kit that includes educational information and material that can be shared with clergy leaders and lay members of church congregations.
