Arrests
A 16-year-old Cook Street boy was charged April 18 with felony domestic violence. He is accused of punching his mother in the neck.
Two brothers, ages 19 and 21, were charged April 17 with domestic violence. The younger man is accused of throwing his mother to the ground. The elder brother is accused of threatening his brother with a gun. The 21-year-old is also charged with aggravated menacing, possession of drug paraphernalia and drug abuse.
A 48-year-old Akron woman was charged April 16 with having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Reports said she was stopped by police on Sackett Avenue at Seventh Street. An officer found in her possession a cup of wine.
A 53-year-old Eighth Street man was charged April 16 with felonious assault. He is accused of pushing a 55-year-old woman to the floor and firing a handgun above her head. He told police the gunshot was accidental.
Burglary
A home in the 1900 block of Ohio Avenue was broken into April 17. Electronics and jewelry were reported taken.
Cash was reported stolen from a house in the 900 block of Curtis Avenue during a burglary April 17.
Identity theft
A 14th Street man reported April 17 someone used his information to file a federal tax return.
A 42-year-old Sixth Street woman reported April 16 someone used her personal information to file a federal tax return.
Passing bad checks
A security employee for a local bank reported April 16 a man deposited a check for $9,200 into the man's account, then withdrew $9,000 the next day. The check was returned as insufficient funds.
Harassment
An 18-year-old woman reported April 18 she received a call from a man who knew personal things about her and asked for sexual favors.
Theft
A 1989 Oldsmobile Delta 88 was reported stolen from the parking lot at 470 Howe Road April 17. A wallet in the vehicle also was taken.
