The Woodridge PTO proudly awarded $17,500 in the form of 43 enrichment grants, to faculty and staff of the Primary and Intermediate Schools.
The grants, which are funded through the PTO Enrichment Grant Program, were submitted by teachers and staff to the PTO Board for approval. The funding for the grants comes from last year’s fundraising events.
The Enrichment Grant Program, in its ninth year, funds grants that bring new and innovative programs and educational tools together to further enrich the students’ educational experience. These enrichments are the “extras” and hands on experience that can make learning interesting, fun and memorable for our students.
Some examples of the programs funded include picture books to help strengthen writing skills of WIS students by using the 6+1 Traits of Writing, Overhead Microscope for WIS, Science kits for Kindergarten, Teaching and Research Centers, Summit County Historical Society “History within Reach” programs, COSI on Wheels for WPS, Hands on Experiment funding for classrooms, Flat Stanley goes to China project, 4th Grade Photo Journal Project, Versatile's, Cleveland Museum of Natural History Travel to School program, materials for The Daily Five: Fostering Literacy Independence for 1st graders and Creative Keepsakes Portfolios. The list of awarded grants for each year is available on the PTO website at www.woodridgepto.com.
To date the PTO has raised and granted over $140,500 to fund this Enrichment Program. Thank you for assisting our schools in providing innovative and creative educational experiences for our children. We strive to make sure each and every dollar comes back to our students and schools in the most beneficial way.
