Senior Olympics set for Saturday

The 2012 Tri-County Senior Olympics will continue with some high-profile events — swimming and basketball — scheduled for Saturday in Akron area.
Men and women ages 50 and older from Summit, Medina and Portage counties are participating in 16 different sports in five-year age brackets.
Today, bowlers will compete from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Stonehedge Family Fun Center, 580 E. Cuyahoga Falls Ave., Akron.
Saturday’s schedule includes swimming from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ocasek Natatorium on the University of Akron campus; basketball (3 on 3) and basketball free throws from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the UA Student Recreation Center; and archery from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Silver Creek Metro Park in Norton.
Among other scheduled events are:
• Cycling, 9 a.m. to noon Monday and Tuesday, Hampton Hills Metro Park, Cuyahoga Falls.
• Corn hole, 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Silver Springs Park, Stow.
• Shuffleboard, 9 a.m. to noon May 10, Waters Park, Akron (North Hill area).
• Tennis, 4 to 9 p.m. May 11-12, Green Tennis Club (behind Prestwick County Club), Green.
• Track, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 14, Lee Jackson Field, UA campus.
• 5K road race, 9 a.m. to noon May 19, Munroe Falls Metro Park, Munroe Falls.
• Golf, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 26, Fox Den Golf Course, Stow.
Registration remains open in some events.
Spectators are welcome at all venues.
