Firestone graduate and 2004 and 2008 Olympian Mark Gangloff, the United States record-holder, turned in the third-best time of the day in his 100-meter breast stroke heat (1:00.43) to advance to Monday night’s semifinals at the Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb.
The final is today.
Walsh Jesuit graduate Sean Murphy finished 55th in the event with a time of 1:03.82.
Katie Miller, who will be a senior at Firestone, finished 40th in the 400-meter individual medley with a time of 4:52.39.
Danielle Marghere, who will be a Walsh Jesuit senior, and Green graduate Laura Lindsay will compete in the 100-meter breast stroke today. Lindsay will compete in the 200-meter breast stroke on Friday.
Gangloff will also compete in the 200-meter breast stroke on Thursday and the 200 individual medley on Friday.
