Stark County man dies in two-car crash in Hartville

Beacon Journal staff report

A 24-year-old Stark County man died following a crash in which his car went left of center on state Route 43 in Hartville and was struck by another vehicle about 10 p.m. Saturday.

Mark S. Conti, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene by Rick Walters, chief investigator for the Stark County Coroner’s Office.

The driver of the other car, Anna R. Miller, also of Stark County, sustained “incapacitating injuries,” according to the Jackson Township Post of the State Highway Patrol. She was transported by Hartville Village EMS to Mercy Medical Center in Canton. MedFlight of Ohio later flew her to Summa Akron City Hospital.

Conti, driving a 1997 Saturn SL2, was traveling south on state Route 43 when he went left of center, the patrol said. His car was struck in the right front passenger door by Miller’s 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, which was traveling north.

The impact forced the Saturn off the east edge of the roadway, where the car overturned.

Hartville Fire Department and Hartville Police Department responded to the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
