Suspect arrested in Akron credit union robbery

Beacon Journal staff report

A man who robbed an Akron credit union Saturday might have robbed a Cuyahoga Falls bank Sunday, police said.

Steven Charles D’Agostine, 43, of Tallmadge, was arrested without incident at a house on Nieman Street in Akron. He was being held in the Summit County Jail.

The Akron robbery took place about 9 a.m. Saturday at the Gen Fed Credit Union, 2492 Wedgewood Drive. Police say the suspect handed the teller a note indicating he had a gun and demanding money.

A Huntington Bank was robbed Sunday in Cuyahoga Falls.

An anonymous tipster identified D’Agostine as a suspect, and detectives used the information to make the arrest, police said.
