Trial begins for man charged with murdering Falls resident

The Summit County Common Pleas trail of  Chad Allen Stephens, an Akron man accused of the 2011 murder of Cuyahoga Falls resident Kim Stephen Slayko II, began Monday afternoon, according to Falls News Press.

The trial resumes today after the completion of the opening arguments of the prosecution and defenese along with the examination and cross-examination of the first witness.

Stephens was arrested in September 2011 for the  shooting of Slayko, which occured Aug. 31. At the time, the 22-year-old Stephens was charged with murder with a firearm, a special felony; aggravated robbery with a firearm specification, a first-degree felony; and having weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony. 

Slayko was a native of Ravenna. He was also U.S. Army veteran who had served in Afghanistan.
