Cuyahoga Falls City Schools is partnering with city police to tighten security in schools, according to Falls News Press.

The Falls School District Superintendent Dr. Todd Nichols announced the collaboration on Monday. Nichols and his administration met with city police over the holiday break to discuss plans on how to increase safety in the schools.

The meeting resulted in an increase of officers and monitoring devices in the school hallways. Additionally, school staff members went through training sessions on preventing and reacting to emergency situations, and identifying violent or threatening behavior.

The collaboration between the school district and the city police is in response to the elementary school shooting in Newton, Conn. last month, Nichols said.
