Cuyahoga Falls City Schools
Steve Newlon
American History and Financial Literacy, Grades 9-12, Cuyahoga Falls High School
For the past nine years, Steve Newlon has been teaching in the Cuyahoga Falls School District. In addition to teaching, Steve helps with the PBIS Team, Class advising, and coaches. His hobbies include camping, hiking, fishing, golf, football, and art. He is the younger of two children to Bill and Marianna Newlon. Steve’s favorite aspect of being a teacher is being able to change the future, and embraces his philosophy of every student being another chance to change the present and future. This honor is meaningful to him because he believes teaching in itself is a great honor. This opportunity affirms that he is on the right track, and states that “almost everyday has a memorable moment.” The best advice Steve has received is to “change the world, one student at a time.”
Nominator: “Steve works to make his lessons interesting and meaningful for students. He incorporates technology whenever possible and makes adjustments in instruction and assessment to help his students attain success.”
