Walsh Jesuit High School has named Barbara Salata as its new athletic director.
Salata replaces Grant Conzaman, who recently announced he would be retiring at the end of June after a long tenure as the school’s AD.
Salata has 25 years of experience serving in athletic administration and as an English teacher for several Northeast Ohio schools. She spent the past eight years as the athletic director and an English teacher for Elyria Catholic High School. She also served as the associate athletic director and then AD for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin and as an English teacher for eight years and as athletic director and English teacher for Cleveland Central Catholic for 10 years.
“We are very excited that Barb has accepted the offer for the athletic director position,” Walsh Jesuit President Karl Ertle said in a news release. “Barb’s extensive athletic administrative background and wonderful personality fit so well with the school’s mission. I am confident she will continue the outstanding athletic programs we have established at Walsh Jesuit.”
Salata was named the 2010 Ohio Athletic Administrator of the Year for Northeast Ohio, and is a two-time recipient of the Scholastic Recognition Award from the North Coast League. Salata is also the 2003-2004 recipient of the John Payton Athletic Director of the Year Award from the Catholic Athletic Administrators and received the Cleveland Baseball Federation John Peyton Memorial Award in 2002.
