Beacon Journal staff report
Woodridge High School is closed Monday due to a gas leak and no heat in the building, the school district said.
According to a post on the Woodridge Local Schools website, members of the district’s maintenance crew noticed a strong odor of natural gas coming from in and around the boiler room at the high school Sunday afternoon.
The Cuyahoga Falls Fire Department and Dominion East Ohio Gas were notified. Workers from the utility company located the problem Sunday and shut off the gas supply. They were to begin making repairs Monday morning.
The high school will be off limits to all staff and students for the entire day Monday. There will be no after-school activities, including sporting events and other extracurricular activities.
Other schools in the district were not affected and held classes as usual.
